The working group that oversees how the Red Ensign Group monitors the organisations that carries out surveys on its behalf has been meeting as part of its commitment to checking how they’re audited in their work.

Representatives including those from Bermuda, British Virgin Isles, Cayman Islands, Falkland Islands, Gibraltar, Guernsey, Isle of Man, Jersey and the UK have been discussing how the monitoring process works and what changes might need to be made.

Regi John, Head of External Monitoring and Assurance with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, who chaired the meeting said: “We use Recognised Organisations to carry out surveys and audits on behalf of the REG. As part of our commitment to maritime safety and pollution prevention, it’s important to make sure that we carry out rigorous and regular audits of what they do and this group meets as part of that commitment.”
