Two surveyors from the Red Ensign Group have been leading discussions around the REG Yacht Code at a Royal Institution of Naval Architects event in Italy.
Carlo Vinelli from the Isle of Man Ship Registry and Julian Smith from Cayman Islands Shipping Registry have been attending the Design & Construction of Super and Mega Yachts event.
The Red Ensign Group Yacht Code came into force at the beginning of this year after being signed off by the REG Technical Forum and Conference.
Julian said: ‘There continues to be intense interest in the REG Yacht Code from industry and there were some very useful discussions around elements of the regulation which helped us to continue to promote the Code and its benefits.’
For Carlo, the visit had an additional thrill: ‘It’s my home town,’ he said. ‘It was a great pleasure to be the chairman of the first session. It was also a great opportunity to discuss many focal points regarding the future of the yacht industry.
